Real stories from curious Learner'sFAQ
Everything you need to plan your pottery session.Pottery is the art of making objects from clay by shaping it with your hands (hand-building) or on a spinning wheel (wheel throwing). Your piece is then dried and fired to become ceramic.
No experience needed â all levels welcome. The workshop is perfect for anyone curious about learning pottery. If youâre booking for someone under 10, please contact us first.
- Wheel throwing is shaping clay on a spinning pottery wheelâgreat for smooth, round pieces like cups, bowls, and vases.
- Hand-building is shaping clay by hand without a wheelâideal for more free-form or sculptural pieces, like plates, planters, tiles, and decorative items.
You can make your own handmade, customised piece thatâs truly one of a kind. itâs totally up to you what you create, but popular pieces include cups/mugs, bowls, plates, vases, planters, and trinket dishes.
- Introduction to Pottery (3 hours): a mix of wheel throwing + hand-building â ideal if you want to try a bit of everything.
- Wheel-Only (2 hours): focused time on the pottery wheel â great for complete beginners or a refresher.
- Drop in session: A casual, flexible pottery session where you can drop in and make your own piece with tutor support available throughout.
- Longer course : A longer course is a multi-week programme where you learn the basics of the pottery wheel step-by-step, with time to practise, improve, and create your own pieces with ongoing tutor support.
